Role Summary:

As the Director of Software Engineering, you will be a key leader responsible for driving the success of our software development teams. Your strategic vision, technical acumen, and people management skills will be critical in achieving our business objectives. In this role, you will lead first-line software engineering managers and oversee the tactical delivery of software projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Strategy:
    • Set the strategic direction for software engineering, aligning it with the overall business goals.
    • Collaborate with Product Management and C-level executives to define technology roadmaps and prioritize initiatives.
    • Drive innovation, scalability, efficiency, measurement and accountability in software development processes.
  • People Management:
    • Lead and mentor software engineers and managers.
    • Foster a high-performance culture, ensuring effective team collaboration and growth.
    • Oversee talent acquisition, performance evaluations, and career development.
  • Project Delivery:
    • Ensure timely and successful delivery of software projects.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, design, QA, cloud/dev Ops) to meet project milestones.
    • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Technical Excellence:
    • Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams.
    • Promote best practices in software architecture, coding standards, and quality assurance.
    • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Communicate project status, risks, and achievements to senior leadership.
    • Collaborate closely with product managers and business stakeholders.
    • Advocate for software engineering excellence within the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in software engineering leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of managing first-line software engineering managers.
  • Preferred Strong understanding of fintech products, financial markets, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and technicalities.
  • Excellent organizational and technical abilities.
  • Good interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and project management tools.
  • Experience in fast paced startup environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to inspire all levels of an internal or external organization.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate ideas, assess risks, and prioritize opportunities.
  • 10+ years’ experience leading cross-functional teams and fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Demonstrable success navigating ambiguity, iterating quickly, and adapting to changing circumstances.
  • 5+ years with AI, Fintech, and digital payments.
  • 5+ years Project Management experience in a Scrum environment.

  • Scrum certified.
